Meet in the parking lot behind The National Hotel 211 Broad St. It's a big green and white building. It's next to the freeway.

This Nevada City Classic is one of the oldest and largest bicycle races held on the west coast and the second-oldest race in the nation. I have attended several and they are fun to watch and prove challenging to photograph. The event is scheduled to start at 1pm and end by 6pm. Getting there early to obtain parking and a good vantage point will be a must.

Parking:For street parking 1/4 to 1/2 mile south of the course take the Sacramento Street exit and turn left over highway 49. Continue up Sacramento Street and park in neighborhoods around the Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop Then you will need to walk down S. Pine ST into downtown(if you park here there will be a walk up hill on the way back)OR turn right on S. Pine St go over the bridge and find parking along Spring street. For parking just east of the course or on streets surrounding the course take the Broad street exit and turn right (east) to public parking.

I had lot fun on my first time event. Very interesting trying taking photos of fast moving objects. Took a lot practice clicking missing and hitting the object. The members I meet were friendly and easy going. Nevada city is very nice cozy town. Breakfast at the cafe was very delicious. I would highly recommend this place

meetup changed their format overnite oh my - last week something changed and I could not log in always getting the timeout screen, then all the info Lisa and i typed in to let folks know the who what and where got moved all around oey! The new changes I agree sure made it hard to find the info. unfortunate but we have no control over what meetup does or when.

The meetup setup was not done well in the small print on the calendar resulting in confusion at the event which made the event a little less productive.

with the meetup setup the time has been delegated to a small print area under the little calender thing uagh! So just in case we meet at 12 noon.

Who attended?

    •  Apparently the website was experiencing difficulties which made it difficult for the organizer to communicate the meeting site specifics. We managed to find eachother ultimately, after I had already established my photography staging position. The others really did not interact much with me, I believe, as a result of the missed connection at the outset. I have had some difficulty understanding how to use the site to accomplish the various things needed. I do use another site for other such things that sure seems to be easier to figure out intuitively.
    •  Great atmosphere. took over 396 photos. This was my first even and I never shot so many that actually had to stop only because my battery lost its charge. Learn some things about taking photos of very fast moving objects. We had a lot of fun. Nevada city is a nice cozy little town with its history. Enjoy the delicious breakfast at the cafe.
    •  the bicyclists were fun to photograph while moving about and trying out different vantage points for closer shots without having to shot facing the direct sun. Lots of great shots of hay bales LOL when timing was off and missed the racer by just this much :)
    •  I was not sure what kind of pictures I was going to take. But it turned out to be fun and challenging.
